Its applications include being an excellent solvent for various organic and inorganic materials in areas such as surface cleaners, degreasers, dyes, fibers, plastics, batteries, aromatic hydrocarbons, and natural gas. It also serves as a gellant for clays and a binder for foundry sand molds.
